Platinum Partners Foundation
Uganda – latest developments

With our help, Robert & Esther have so far been able to permanently accommodate 83 children on a full time basis, pay all their staff a salary and they are currently building four Child Life Homes, where they envision the orphaned kids will be able to live in a family setting.
In December 2007 just over £5000 was raised at a Platinum Property Partners Wealth Weekend event, which went directly to the drilling and protecting of a bore-hole to bring fresh water to the community.
The next step is to acquire a 30-50 acre piece of land where food can be grown to feed the children and also be sold to generate income on an on-going basis.

The most recent development, in April 2008, has been the acquisition of a piece of farmland, which presently has matooke (plantain) growing on it, and which feeds the children once a week. Robert and Esther’s team have also begun to plant cassava, papaya and oranges on top of the plantain, and hope to be able to start tilling the land in the near future, which will enable them to plant maize, beans and other vegetables. The next expenditure will be on a tractor to plough the land, as well as housing and salaries for three men to work on it for them, plus a monthly agriculture consultancy to ensure they’re doing it right for long-term sustainability.
The generosity of PPP Franchise Partners and all those involved in the Platinum Partners Group towards the orphanage has been incredible and needless to say, all of these contributions are making an enormous difference to how quickly the Mponyes are able to progress their vision.
Just one of the additional things donations have facilitated is an eye operation for Grace, who was thrown in a well when she was just a toddler and left for dead. Thanks to Robert and Esther, Grace is now a happy and healthy little girl, looking forward to a future she can see for herself.
